ECO-Choice Natural Spring Water donated in support of Joplin Tornado Relief Effort

ECO-Choice Springwater, LLC, an Overland Park, KS company, in conjunction with Wham Frozen Foods, Inc located in Hollywood, Florida and Snacks on Racks, Inc located in Parkville, Mo has donated eight pallets (approximately 500 cases) of ECO-Choice Natural Spring Water to support relief efforts in Joplin Missouri following the devastating tornado that struck that community on Sunday, May 22, 2011.

Delivery of the eight pallets of water to Joplin was coordinated by Snacks on Racks and transported to Joplin by the Salvation Army from Snacks on Racks Parkville, MO warehouse location on Monday as news of the tornado’s devastating impact spread through the news reports.

Representatives from all three companies expressed their condolences to the many victims of the tornado and hoped that the donation of the ECO-Choice Natural Spring Water would bring at least a minor measure of support to the relief efforts.

The folks at ECO-Choice Natural Spring Water were pleased to learn last week that the management of the Fiji Water company had reversed its November 29^th decision to close its operations in Fiji in protest to a large tax imposed by the Fiji government on the export of water from Fiji and has re-started their operations in the South Pacific nation.

ECO-Choice Water Cartons are Absolutely BPA Free!

Based on the New York Times Op-Ed column yesterday regarding “New Alarm Bells About Chemicals and Cancer” and which comments on concerns associated with the use of bisphenol-A, commonly known as BPA, in food and beverage containers, it is important for buyers of ECO-Choice Natural Spring Water to know that ECO-Choice Water cartons contain absolutely no BPA.

ECO-Choice Water cartons, which are produced by SIG Combibloc, consist of approximately 75% paper board which is a renewable resource harvested from managed forests and is FSC certified resource wood. The liquid barrier and bonding agent used in cartons is polyethylene, not PET. The carton also contains a 6 micron thick layer of aluminum which protects the water from light and aroma migration.

The twist cap used on ECO-Choice Water cartons is made from 100% polyethylene, not PET, and weights only 2.7 grams.

Not only is ECO-Choice Natural Spring Water pristine water, but it is packaged in a state of the art, environmentally responsible package, that is free from chemicals which have uncertain effects on consumers.

Today’s New York Times Op-Ed points out that studies of BPA have raised alarm bells for decades, and the evidence is still complex and open to debate. Legislation that would ban BPA from food and beverage containers is pending in the Senate but is being resisted by the food industry based on the ambiguous data surrounding BPA. The President’s Cancer Panel is releasing a 200-page report today warning that our lackadaisical approach to regulation may have far-reaching consequences for our health. The Panel’s point is that we should be prudent in such situations, rather than recklessly approving chemicals of uncertain effect.

ECO-Choice Year One Anniversary

As the USA celebrates Earth Week this month, ECO-Choice Natural Spring Water is celebrating its first anniversary in the marketplace. ECO-Choice Water’s first shipment was to Lawrence Memorial Hospital in Lawrence, Kansas in mid-April 2009 which introduced the bottled water on April 15 of that year as part of the hospital’s “Go-Green” initiative. Retailer and consumer response to ECO-Choice Natural Spring Water since that time has been quite positive. The product line is now sold in over 500 retail grocery stores across the USA and distribution is building quickly.
